In the simplest definition, it is the thread material produced by making silicone cogs on the polyester thread in the middle. Yes, it consists of 2 layers
A thread has a total of 800 cogs. The placement of these cogs is made in a patented configuration.
What is the Advantage Compared to Other Suspension Threads?
The problem of all suspension threads has always been permanence. The threads, which are well known in the market, promise an average of 18 to 24 months of permanence, which we see as a practitioner that even this is too ambitious claim. There are 3 factors that affect permanence:
- Strength and elasticity of the thread
2.The thread adherence to the sagging tissue
3.The place where the thread is fixed
Most of the threads in the market are strong, but few of them are elastic and they are good to hold on to the tissue they attach. Although these two factors as I mentioned are very important, the most important point here is actually where the thread is fixed. In other words, the point where the weight of the suspended tissue will be transferred by the thread. Yes, this is 1 point in all other permanent threads in the market. This point is in front of the earlobe, at the temple or behind the earlobe, depending on the tissue to be suspended. With this perspective, French Suspension Thread system has brought about a very serious new window. As I mentioned earlier, the French Thread consists of 2 layers. Also, a thread has 2 legs
One of the legs I mentioned is placed in the area to be suspended and the other under the scalp. Yes, it is placed under the scalp
This is the most important feature that distinguishes the French Thread, or Silicone Thread, from other threads. The weight of the tissue to be suspended is transferred to many points with the second leg of the thread placed under the scalp instead of one point. The weight carried on only one point will make the thread to break from that point in time. How long this time will be is the issue here. This is completely proportional to the force and time that the weight will transmit to that point. In order to explain this subject even better, the example I give to each patient is as follows. The effort you put into carrying a 5-kilogram shopping bag with one hand alone, and the effort of three people helping you to carry, is much less. In other words, transferring it to many points instead of one point reduces the force of weight much more in this regard. This comes back to us very nicely as: Prolonged Time, that is, Prolonged Permanance.
In short, the most important feature that distinguishes the French Strap from other suspension threads is its permanence which is much longer.
At the same time, the inner part, which is polyester, and the outer part, which is silicone, add a serious strength and elasticity to the French Thread, which is a very important factor in a permanent thread to be used for lifting moving areas such as face and neck.
Does Face Lift Surgery or French Thread Last Longer?
Frankly, I will not hesitate to give very assertive answers on this subject. People who do not smoke and have good skin quality have the same permanence with the French Thread as in Face Lift surgery. The main question here is what will happen to people who smoke and / or have poor skin quality? Here, too, I can give very straight answers. I never do a Face Lift surgery to a smoker because of the high risk of possible problems. In cases where the skin quality is not good, I prefer to do the procedures that will increase the structure and quality of the skin first. Then I will make another evaluation.
The fact that we can talk about four to five years of permanence in non-smoking people with good skin quality brings very serious advantages. But one thing that should not be forgotten and well known here is that the effect will last 30-40% less in case of smoking.
I got a French Thread, will everything be alright?
I always keep saying. It is necessary to evaluate an aging face from 3 perspectives:
- Volume Losses
- Skin Structure and Quality Variables
Since the only factor to be corrected with the French Thread is sagging, additional treatments will be required if you have volume losses and / or skin structure changes.
Where Can French Threads Be Applied?
French Threads has many applications areas:
- Eye Edge (Almond Eye)
- Mouth Edge
- Lower Face
- Double Chin
How Is It Applied?
Although it can be performed under general anesthesia, after the patient is put to sleep, it can also be applied while chatting very comfortably under local anesthesia.
There are differences according to the application area, but the main logic is always same in all areas except eyebrow and eye edge (almond eye). I will explain how the most common application areas, mid-lower face and double chin-neck applications are performed.
In the middle and lower face applications, small incisions of approximately 6-7 millimeters are made in the scalp of the temple area, in neck and under chin applications, these small incisions are hidden behind the earlobe. These incisions are actually the place where the middle parts of the threads will be located. As I mentioned before, one leg of the thread with two legs is placed where it is desired to lift through this incision and the other leg is placed under the scalp. The weight of the lifting place is directly transferred to approximately 400 small cogs on the second leg placed on the scalp with a French thread (silicone thread). As I mentioned before, instead of transferring it to a point, this technique and material provides much more permanence by transferring the weight to more points (Vid. 1) (Vid. 2)
Duration of The Procedure
The procedure takes between one and two hours depending on the number of threads to be applied.
It takes an average of one week.
Back to Work
It takes 1-3 days
With the pain relievers, it can be dealt with very easily. My patients complain about tension more than pain. This feeling of tension is also completely temporary.
Since the incisions on the back of the earlobe or scalp of temple are very small, there is no scar at the end of the application.
It is necessary to restrict head and neck movements, nutrition with soft foods, and to make as few gestures as possible for a week.
